Funeral services for Chinell Smoots, 82 of Plainview will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Pastor David Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Smoots died Sunday, January 11, 2015 in Plainview. He was born on February 25, 1932 in Plainview, Texas to Norman and Ruby Wright Smoots. He married Charles Etta Hall on January 22, 1972 in Plainview. He worked at the Coop Compress for 16 years and at Excel Beef Packing Plant for 36 years. He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Charles Etta Smoots; 2 sons, Tyson and Angela Smoots of Dallas and Damien and Belinda Nails of Plainview; 4 daughters, Tiffany and Corrie Williams of Lubbock, Evelyn Thompson of Antioch, TN, Elaine and David Boit of Lubbock and Shirley and Herbert Buard of Mesquite; 19 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 1 son, Norman Smoots; 1 sister, Venita Jackson and both parents.
