Funeral services for Charles Nails Sr., 66 of Plainview will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday February 17, 2012 at First Baptist Church (205 W 8th St Plainview, TX) with Apostle Russell Wise of Arlington, TX officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Charles Augusta Nails Sr. was born in Oklahoma City, OK on August 26, 1945 to Henry and Alberta Nails.
In 1947, the family moved to Plainview, TX. In 1962 he married Alice Faye Goodson and to that union were born three children. And his second marriage was with Betty Jean Carr and to that union were born four children. On January 1, 2011 Charles married Twyla Hines and to that union no children were born.
Charles attended and graduated in 1963 from Booker T. Washington school. He attended United Baptist Church at an early age.
Preceding him in death are his 1st wife and then his 2nd wife Betty Jean, his 3 sons, his grandaughter Kierra, his father Henry Nails Sr. and three brothers, Henry Jr., Kenneth and Zelbert and three sisters, Della Mae Nails, Arlene White and Allene Ervine "the twins."
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Twyla Delaine Nails, his mother Alberta Nails, his daughters Sherry Diane Harvey (Wayman), Angela Renee Nails, Donna Whitlock (Dwight) all of Dallas, TX; his sons Charles Nails Jr. (Norma) of Austin, TX and Damien Nails (Belinda) of Plainview; Stepdaughters Victoria Hines, Peggy Coleman of Plainview, Felicia Nails of Dallas, TX, Tammy Whitfield of Aurora, CO, Sonya Nails of Dallas, TX; Stepsons Terry Hines of Oklahoma City, OK, Kenneth Brooks Jr., Quenion Hines both of Plainview. He also raised his great-grandking Martin; his brothers Michael Nails (LaJoyce) of Casa Grande, AZ, Leonard Nails (Ramona) of Ft. Worth, TX; his sisters Della Faye Deloney (Lee Van) of Ft. Worth, TX, Shirley Winfrey (James) of Lawton, OK, Cynthia Ray (Ronnie) of Plainview, Yvonne Jordan (Richard) of Ft. Worth, TX and Jennell Nails of Lubbock; 25 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
