Funeral Mass for Candelaria "Laura" A. Sanchez, 90 of Kress will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday April 24th at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Kress with Father David Contreras officiating and Deacon Joe Frausto assisting. Burial will follow at the Kress Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00p.m. Sunday April 23rd at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Mrs. Sanchez will lie in state at the church until time for the Rosary . Services are under the personal direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Candelaria was born on February 2, 1927 to Baldormero and Manuela Alvarez in Palacious, TX. She married Domingo R. Sanchez on December 3, 1963 in Plainview. Candelaria was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Kress. Her main job was a homemaker, but she went on to work at Levi Straus and Losson's Restaurant. Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Linda Owen and husband Galen of Kress and Angela Noriega and husband Chris, of Plainview; one son, Martin Sanchez and wife Marie of Kress; three step-sons, Rene Sanchez and wife Estella of Seguin, TX, Armando Sanchez of Houston, and Manuel Sanchez and wife Sylvia of Round Rock, TX; three brothers and one sister, Paul and Lewis Alvarez and Frances Ybarra all of Elgin, TX, and Inez Alvarez and his wife Brenda of Humble, TX, 24 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Candelaria was preceded in death by her husband, Domingo R. Sanchez in 2012; two step-sons, Domingo Sanchez, Jr. and Esmeraldo Sanchez; two grandchildren, Jaime Sanchez and Jhett Noriega; five brothers, Natividad, Joe, Pete, Santos, and Manuel; four sisters, Feliciana, Mary, Josie, and Camela. Pallbearers are Seann Sanchez, Manuel Vasquez, Joshua Noriega, Jonathan Noriega, Earl Vasquez, Gabriel Vasquez, and Kainalu Sanchez. Honorary Pallbearers are Joseph Noriega, Chris Owen, Manuel Sanchez, Jr., Paul Kumuhone, and Kelena Waiolama
