Obituary

With deep love and heartfelt gratitude, we celebrate the life of Brenda Joyce Young Wooley, affectionately known as "Bren," "Mommy," and "Sissy." Brenda transitioned peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 63. While our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the assurance that she is now resting in the presence of the Lord she loved so deeply—fully healed, fully whole, and fully home.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 (6:00–8:00 PM) at Bartley Memorial Chapel. The Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 (11:00 AM) at Plainview First Assembly of God, with interment to follow at Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Born on April 13, 1962, in Plainview, Texas, Brenda lived a life marked by steadfast faith, perseverance, and generous love. As the third oldest of seven children, she naturally carried the spirit of a protector and nurturer, offering strength, comfort, and encouragement to those around her. Brenda was a true fighter—courageous through significant health challenges—and she held firmly to the truth she lived by: with God, all things are possible.

Brenda's work ethic was unmatched. She began working as a teenager at Page's Grocery Store, later served more than 16 years at Excel Corporation, and spent 10 faithful years at Walmart. Brenda didn't simply work—she served. Her warmth and integrity left an imprint on coworkers, customers, and anyone who had the blessing of crossing her path.

Above all, Brenda was a giver. She showed up for people, no matter the time or circumstance, and she had a special gift for encouragement—often lifting others through prayer, kindness, and gentle reminders of hope. She carried deep compassion for those facing hardship, especially the unhoused community, and often shared her dream of starting a community "boutique" to provide clothing and care for those in need.

Brenda's faith was the foundation of her life. She loved Jesus wholeheartedly and lived prayerfully, renewing her spirit through scripture and devotion—especially Our Daily Bread. She lived by Philippians 4:13, Luke 1:37, and Psalm 139, and her home was filled with God's Word as a covering over her family and her life.

Brenda found joy in simple treasures—sunny days outdoors near the lake or pool, thrift stores and antique shops, and decorating her home with meaningful touches. Her favorite color was green, she loved home-cooked soul food and a cold Big Red, and she enjoyed gospel music and soulful classics. She also loved sports—cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, and the Dallas Mavericks, and enjoyed watching LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Brenda's greatest joy and proudest calling was motherhood. She was the devoted mother of Tynisha Deshun Wooley, faithfully present through every season of life with unwavering love, prayer, and support. Brenda's legacy is one of love that served, faith that endured, and strength that inspired.

Brenda is survived by her loving mother, Barbara Nell Malone (Arlington, Texas); her beloved daughter, Tynisha Wooley (Irving, Texas); and her siblings: Rita Rose Young (Fort Worth, Texas), Angela Marie Young (Seattle, Washington), Randy Dale Malone (Arlington, Texas), Bennie Denise Malone (Lewisville, Texas), and Elizabeth LaShon Malone (Omaha, Nebraska), along with a host of extended family, friends, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Young; her sister, Wanda Gale Sansom; her grandmother, Bennie Howard; her grandfather, Noral Cofer; her aunts Gloria Guy and Zora Dunn; and her uncles Paul Cofer, Bonnie Cofer, and Richard Cofer.

She was love. She was faith. She was strength. And she will be missed beyond measure.
