Funeral Services for Bobbie Ruth Nash, 83 of Plainview will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the First Baptist Church in Plainview. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ.
Bobbie Ruth Nash was born in Bremond, Texas to late the Reverend Tom and Lenora (Munson) Lockett. Her family moved from Bremond to Abilene, to Hamlin, then settling in Plainview, Texas. She was widowed twice (Curtis J. Nash and Jack Uddley).
Momma (Granny, Bob, Bobbie) was a caring and loving Woman of God, and she demonstrated it to her family daily. She was always there for us, through the good and the bad. More than anything Bobbie loved being a mother, first and foremost. She also loved being a friend, just helping other people and listening to them. She was a "Counselor."
Bobbie worked as a Surgical Technician with (Covenant Hospital}, retiring after twenty-seven and one-half years. She was well Known in her church and in the community. Bobbie served her church, Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in many capacities; some of her favorites were: being the Lead Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Foreign Missions, Bible Band, Sewing Circle and cooking. She was a true Servant at Heart and in her actions. Bobbie served in the Plainview Community in many ways as well. She assisted in Ushering at all types of functions, a Chaplin (Spiritual Care Advisor) for Covenant Hospital and the Running Draw RSVP Group.
Bobbie is survived by her children: Sheila Nash, Curtis (Gail) Nash, Velma (Curtis) Thompson,
Dorothy (Don) Green, Sabrina Uddley all of Plainview, Harold (Gloria) Uddley of Midland, Malcolm
(Rose) Nash of Amarillo, Texas and Trevina Willis and Akiba Nash of Denton, Texas. Siblings: Carl (Patricia)Lockett, Marjorie Hutchinson, Allan Neil Lockett and Brienda Lockett-Middelton all of Abilene, TX; Sisters-in-Law: Dorothy Uddley Whitfield of Plainview, Gloria Lockett of Dallas Texas and Ruthie Lockett of Houston, Texas. Also, she has 40 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a daughter Youlanda Ann Nash, 3 grandchildren: Robyn Smiley, Dorinda Nash and Brentodd Wooley, her parents Tom and Leonora Lockett, 3 sisters Tommie Lockett Williams, Dorothy Lockett Arberry, Lula Lockett Royals, 2 Brothers Hardie Lockett and Leonard Lockett Sr. A Host of nieces, nephews, cousins and some very special friends.
