Birdie Fennell
Owens
March 15, 1940 – September 15, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce that Birdie Fennell Owens met her Lord and Savior at the age of 85, on September 15, 2025, in Lubbock, TX. Viewing will be available on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Bartley Funeral Home. A Funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM at United Baptist Church, 2106 Walter Griffin St., Plainview, TX. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
Birdie Fennell Owens was born in Plainview, Texas on March 15, 1940, to Romey Fennell Sr. and Vivian Owens Fennell. She attended Booker T. Washington School and graduated high school in Roxton, Texas. During her lifetime, she worked for the owners of Harvest Queen Mill, Levi Strauss, and Christian Manor until she retired. After retirement, you could always, and I mean always find her in the pickup with her sister Carolyn riding around town just to get out of the house. Her best friend was her church buddy, Ms. Virginia Jo Alexander. She stood in the door waiting for Ms. Virginia to pick her up on Sunday for church and would not go to church if Ms. Virginia didn't pick her up because she did not want to ride with anyone else.
Birdie is preceded by her parents, Romey & Vivian Fennell Sr; her sisters, Virginia Woods, Gertha Marie Fennell, Clovis Lee Fennell; her brothers, Romie Fennell Jr, and Roy Ray Fennell.
Those left to cherish Birdie's precious memories are her sons: Reynaldo (wife, Joann) Fennell of Seagoville, TX, Lester (wife, Pamela) Fennell of Plainview, TX; her daughter: LaDonna Owens of Carrolton, TX; her sisters: Qullar Westmoreland of Carson, CA and Carolyn Thompson (husband, Girlon) of Plainview, TX; a brother, Billy Don (wife, Deborah) Fennell of Austin, TX; 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
