Bennie Lee Downing, 92, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 in Lubbock, TX.
Funeral service will be Monday March 9, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Silas Short of the Fourth & Ave G. Church of Christ, in Hale Center officiating. Interment will follow at Hale Center Cemetery under the direction Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m., Sunday March 8th at the funeral home.
Mrs. Downing was born August 13, 1922, in Wellington, Texas to Bert Frederick McCarver and Sarah Myrtle (Bateman) McCarver. She was united in marriage to James Ray Downing in 1945 in Dallas. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2008.
She is also preceded in death by her four sisters, Leona McCarver, Pauline Stevens, Archie Wilson, and Mildred Newson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Robert "Bob" McCarver of Hale Center; two nephews, Kelly McCarver and wife, Shelly of Lubbock; and Robert "Kevin" McCarver and fiancée, Kim of Odessa; as well as several great-nieces & nephews.
