Bedi Mares Jr., 80 years old, passed away on November 26, 2024, in Lubbock, TX. Arrangements are under the supervision of Bartley Funeral Home, Plainview, TX.

Bedi Mares Jr. was born on July 25, 1944, to Bedi Mares Sr. and Valentina Rodriguez in Premont, Texas. He married the love of his life, Maria Elena Mares, on October 22, 1963, in Brownfield, Texas. They were happily married for 61 years.

Bedi loved going to the lake and riding in boats. He also enjoyed visiting the beach. As an avid hunter, he cherished every moment spent in nature. With over 20 years of farming experience, he developed a deep appreciation for John Deere tractors. While living in Michigan, he worked in a factory. He was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ in Plainview.

Bedi is preceded in death by his parents: Valentina and Bedi Mares Sr., and his brothers, Joe John and Alfred Ortega.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Maria Mares of Plainview, TX; his sons, Wilfred and wife Rachael Mares of Hereford, TX, Junior and wife Angie Mares of West Olive, MI, Pedro and wife Pam Mares of Earth, TX, and Eugene and wife Blanca Mares of Dallas, TX; his sisters: Diana Ortega, Yolanda Ortega, Lisa Ortega, Rebecca Ortega, Tina Ortega, and Angela Ortega; his brother: Domingo and wife Mary Ortega of Rio Rancho, NM; 10 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
