Obituary

Graveside Services for Apolonia "Paula" Monier, 90, of Plainview, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Plainview Cemetery with Pastor Steve Martinez officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. Apolonia passed from this life on October 7, 2018 in Plainview, TX. Paula was born on February 2, 1928 in Odom, TX to Maria Navejar and Metodio Valdez. She lived and raised her children in Weslaco, TX before moving to Plainview, TX. She worked for Marse & Son and Gabriel's Department Store as a seamstress for many years. She moved to Kerrville, TX and worked for WalMart as a door greeter. Her passion was sewing and taught sewing classes for a community college. She was instrumental in making the backdrop drapery for Terry Cook's exhibit at the Museum of the Llano Estacado.In recent years she moved to Plainview to be closer to her daughter. We would like to thank Plainview Healthcare for their love and care during her stay there, especially Nuria who was so patient with her. Those left to cherish her memory are sons; Jesse Vasquez Jr and wife Irma of Edinburg, TX and Joel Vasquez and wife Jiji of Manila, Philippines, daughters; Yolanda Chavez of San Antonio, TX, Lupita Montelongo Escalón and husband Peter Sr., and Elva Vasquez Hipolito of Plainview, TX. Ten grandchildren; Stuart Chavez and wife Patty of San Antonio, TX, Cristal Smith and husband Alex of Centreville, VA, Jesse Vasquez III of Edinburg, TX, Victoria Vasquez of Edinburg, TX, Kevin Hipolito of Houston, TX, Vito Vasquez of Weslaco, TX, Angelo Vasquez of Weslaco, TX, Nicholas Vasquez and wife Amber of Austin, TX, Nathan Vasquez of Lubbock, TX, and Joel Vasquez Jr. of Manila, Philippines. She is preceded in death by her parents; Maria Navejar and Metodio Valdez, infant daughter; Irene Vasquez, husbands; Jesse Vasquez Sr and Leighton Monier, brothers; Jose Delgado Sr., Refugio Delgado Sr., Toribio Valdez, sister; Ernestina D. Alaniz, and son-in-laws; Gilbert Chavez and Jesse Hipolito.

She will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
