Obituary

Funeral services for Alma J. (Brown) Peel, 64 of Plainview will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A wake will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Alma Peel was called home Monday, May 5, 2014 in Plainview. She was born on June 21, 1949 in Plainview to Rev. Clarence and Hazel Brown. She worked for Walmart Stores for 20 years and was also a teacher assistant at Austin Heights and College Hill Elementary schools from 1970 to 1992 believing all children can be taught. Alma earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Education from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview in 1998. She is surived by 1 daughter, Katrina Wilson of Plainview; 3 sons, Reginald Wilson and wife Judy of Plainview, Kelvin Wilson of Plainview and Billy Peel and wife Chermae of Midland; 1 great niece, Danasha Whitaker of Plainview; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; 4 brothers, Fred Herring and wife Emma of Plainview, Joe Whitaker and wife Millie of Plainview, Jimmy Brown and wife Valerie of Indianapolis, IN and William Brown of Oklahoma City, OK; 2 sisters, Betty Jackson and husband Roosevelt of Amarillo and Ethel Singleton and husband Keith of San Antonio. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Curtis Herring, Sr. and Edward Brown, Sr.
