Alma Bell Caraway Gossett of Shallowater, Texas went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2013 at the age of 94. She was born on April 10, 1918 in Brady, Oklahoma, the eldest of eight children born to Lloyd Lee Harper and Clara Fletcher Harper.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Sherman Hensley Gossett and Aaron Carl Caraway, daughter, Jhonnie Cox; son, Benjamin Eads; step-son, Jim Caraway and grandson Brian Cody.
Survivors include one sister, Ruby Bicknell; two daughters, Billie Cody and Jackie Simpson and one son, Sherman Gossett. Grandchildren include: Aaron Gossett; Bruce, Lloyd and Mitchell Cody; Michael and Audrey Sullivan; Jimmy Ellison and Eugene and Michael Farris; Venus, Gilbert, Benjamin and James Eads; Lorraine Pitner, Stella Bennett, Ginger Darovich and Bettyjo Stanton along with 38 great grandchildren and 42 great-great grandchildren.
Alma was raised during the depression and learned early in life to try anything she could to get by. She worked in the cotton fields, waitressed, owned a café, worked in munitions factory, riveted airplane wings and raised cattle and hogs. She loved her family, was a wonderful cook and was always there for anyone who needed help.
The family would like to express appreciation to her cardiologist, Fawwaz Shoukfeh, MD, FACC for the loving care he provided for over thirty years.
Funeral services are scheduled for 9:00 A.M. Monday January 14, 2013 at Milwaukee Church of Christ in Lubbock with Elder Jim Ward officiating. Burial will follow at 4:00 P.M. in Holliday, Texas.
