Allen "Al" Alford, 88, of Canyon, departed this earthly life and entered heaven's gates on January 30, 2021. A graveside will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon at 3 p.m. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Bartley Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.

He was born on May 29, 1932 to Allen "Bud" and Jessie Evelyn "Bob" Alford in Lockney, New Mexico. Allen served our country in the Korean Conflict as a seaman on the USS Tucker from September 13, 1951 to September 12, 1955. He then married Margie Lee McKee on July 13, 1958. They shared 57 beautiful years of marriage.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master's degree in Education Administration from WT, he worked his entire career with the Spearman Independent School District for 37 years primarily as the Elementary Principal and Business Manager.

Allen also owned and operated a real estate company in Spearman, Texas and later worked for Horace Mann Insurance after retiring in 1995.

He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Those left to cherish his memory is his son, Scott Alford and wife, Jan, of Plainview, grandsons; Riley Alford and Harrison Alford and wife, Aubrie, a great grand-daughter; Allison Alford, brothers; Tommy Alford and wife, Louise, Rogene Alford and wife, Sandra, and a sister; Betty J. Miller and husband, Gary.

Allen is preceded in death by his parents; Allen "Bud" and Jessie Evelyn "Bob" Alford, a brother; Clarence "Babe" Alford, and his loving wife; Margie Lee Alford.
